There are millions of women globally that are leaving secure jobs, even with families and all the expenses that come with it. Why? There are a variety of reasons why and we will visit some of those here. Women are being encouraged by the government and by society to become entrepreneurs. Globally there will be well over a billion women who will be making an impact on our society.
So why is there such a passion for entrepreneurship?
This comes from a global economy that plummeted through the floor boards in a domino effect hitting everyone possible and leaving people without jobs or homes. Those that were stuck with their employers were grateful to have a job but not at all satisfied. This is because most were taking pay cuts, losing 401k’s and benefits for their family. Something had to give somewhere and as opportunity arose they began to bite and the world of women in business began to grow. This growth shows no chance of stopping and no slowing down. There is more government grants geared toward women than nearly anyone and grant writers are making a fortune as over 40% of their clients are women wanting to start a business.
What are the types of businesses are they going into?
Women are choosing businesses in a wide variety of genres. Some are focusing on what they have an aptitude for even if it isn’t a passion like IT, customer care or sales. Others are focused more on what they know such as child care and day care as well as kids clothing and toys. One of the largest home businesses that woman are getting into is children’s educational toys and games as well as home-schooling where parents can come and educate their children outside of traditional learning. This is like a daycare but takes a different license and training but there are plenty of companies out there with the equipment and training tools so your startup is not bad at all.
Where is the workplace for these women?
Honestly, the majority choose to work from home because they have families or because the overhead would prove to be an unnecessary expense for what they have to do. Working from home means you have one mortgage or rent and one set of bills that shouldn’t get any higher. Some women are in businesses where they have to ship product out of the home and being there is just easier and others are working online with writing or data entry so it is unnecessary to have an office, in fact their office could be the beach!
